Shafts of sun break through cloud over a small hydroelectric station on the Nho Que river at Son Vi commune, in Meo Vac district, Ha Giang, a large penstock pipe running down the bare hillside to the powerhouse. A concrete bridge crosses the shrunken river below, its bed strewn with pale boulders beneath the steep ranges.
